Family Vacations

Family vacations are chocked full of memories. Family vacations are like a family reunion. This is the only time we get to devote strictly to the family and its members.

As we all gathered this past holiday, we spent a lot of time talking about our past family vacations. We had not laughed that hard in a long time. We always seem to pull out the family photos when we all get together and look at past family vacation spots that we spent as a family.

Some of our best family vacation times are when we went camping in a tepee. We had a sixteen pole tepee and five kids plus friends camp in the most primitive way. It would never fail that we would get at least one day of rain. It is remarkable how what seemed as the worst time, at the time brings back the best family vacation memories.

As we have all grown older now and our children have children have of their own, our family vacations are either taken in a tin tepee (motor home) or rental cottages. It is more like a family reunion now than it was before.

At the holidays we were trying to decide what and were we were going to chose our family vacation spot this year. We try to pick a location that has entertainment for the whole family. We have a Yogi Bear Campground near our house and they have cabins for rent and a spot for motor homes. Their is things to do for young and old alike. It is also near Lake Michigan and we can charter a boat for fishing and cruising if we like. We have our family vacation spot picked, now all we need is a week when we can all get together at the same time.

Family vacations are more than a week or two out of a year. Family vacations are a life time of memories. Isn't that what families are all about?
